My award winning images

Crossing Water

A cold morning on Lake Kerkini in Northern Greece I noticed a Dalmatian pelican approaching from the distance as we were sailing back to the harbour in our big wooden boat. The soft morning light created a pastel-like atmosphere to the scenery with the mountains in the background and a completely mirrorlike water surface. I was ready and concentrated on getting the composition right when the pelican passed only five metres from our boat. Fortunately, I had a wide-angle lens on the camera.

Nail Biting

One evening, I was sitting in a special build hide in Hungary photographing at water level. I was invisible to the birds outside and this Night Heron stood for a long time just in front of me being busy with its claw. I used a low f-number to get a soft framing in the nice evening sun.

Commended | Best Portrait | Bird Photographer of the Year 2020.

Eurasian Wigeon

One morning in April I went out with my floating hide nearby Copenhagen in Denmark. A pair of Eurasian wigeon were sitting on some rocks and after a while the male entered the water just in front of me. I made this image of the beautiful bird in the soft morning light.
