One afternoon, I spotted a few waders foraging in a long, narrow pool on the rocky beach along the west coast of Jutland in Denmark. Lying down in the sand, I waited patiently for this red knot to move into the perfect position for my shot, and I was even rewarded with eye contact from the bird.
