Skomer is a small inhabited island situated less than a mile off the coast of southwestern Wales and is well known for its breeding colonies of Atlantic puffins. I was therefore thrilled to spend three days on the island photographing these adorable, colourful little birds. Most of the time, the weather was overcast with frequent rain, but finally, on the last day, the sun came out in the afternoon and remained until sunset. This gave me the opportunity to capture this puffin portrait in the soft evening light.
