The early-morning light had just begun to spill across the savannah in Mara North Conservancy in Kenya, wrapping everything in the soft warmth of the golden hour when a lioness moved gracefully through the tall grass. We positioned ourselves in front of her to be ready to capture some images as she walked by. It is moment like these that make it so rewarding to rise early and be out on the savannah at first light.
