Mandarin ducks are rare in Denmark, but a male has been visiting a location north of Copenhagen for several years. I have spent many hours lying in the mud by the water’s edge, hoping to capture some beautiful images of this extraordinarily colourful bird. One morning, I was fortunate enough to take this shot in lovely surroundings and perfectly calm water just as it briefly raised its wings.
