One January afternoon, I was out on Lake Kerkini in northern Greece, photographing the magnificent Dalmatian pelican from a traditional wooden boat. At this time of year, their pouch glows with an intense red colour ahead of the breeding season. I noticed these two pelicans drifting quietly across the still water and waited until they reached the perfect position before capturing this serene and peaceful moment.
